Research

The College of Arts and Sciences at Georgia State University has established several research and service centers that play key roles in promoting intercultural understanding. These centers pull together teachers and scholars from different specialties and disciplines to investigate the distinctive characteristics of each region:

  • The Center for Hellenic Studies works to expand and disseminate knowledge of ancient and contemporary Hellenic cultures through research, university courses, and community events. Website: www.gsu.edu/hellenic
  • The Center for International Media Education assists in the development of media education in various parts of the world. The principal focus currently is on the Middle East and North Africa. Website: www.gsu.edu/cime
  • The Center of Latin American and Latino Studies addresses issues of Latin American and U.S. Latino culture, economy, and politics through interdisciplinary research, education, and community outreach. Website: http://www.clals.gsu.edu/
  • The Middle East Institute coordinates Georgia State’s Middle East initiatives in biotechnology, geology, management training, journalism education, teacher training, and urban studies, and sponsors the Middle East Lectures Series, which features prominent international scholars and policymakers.   • The Asian Studies Center is a developing program in the College of Arts and Sciences that draws on faculty with expertise in the political systems and the art, music, and philosophy that have flourished in the Asian world.
