About the College

With more than 40 academic departments and interdisciplinary centers, the College of Arts and Sciences provides an environment where students may both explore a wide range of interests and find their areas of specialization.

The College’s academic offerings include the fine arts, the humanities, the natural and computational sciences and the social and behavioral sciences. Our programs teach students to discover knowledge independently, and to think critically, creatively and analytically.

The College prepares students for professional careers and provides them with the foundation for lifelong learning. The college also has primary responsibility for the two-year general education curriculum required of all Georgia State students.

Students in the College of Arts and Sciences can work with faculty experts, respected artists and top scientists while taking advantage of the facilities of a major research institution. The reach of the college’s faculty and students extends beyond campus, enriching the community and touching people around the world through service opportunities, cultural events, study abroad, and joint research programs.
