Transfer Credit Evaluation

The Office of Admissions will evaluate your transcript and put your credit on the system. Dummy numbers (course numbers ending in 99) will be assigned to any unfamiliar courses. If the unfamiliar course is a lower level course, you will receive '1099' or '2099' credit. If the unfamiliar course is an upper level course, you will receive '3099' or '4099' credit accordingly. For example, if you take a Liberal Arts Math course, you will receive credit for MATH 1099.

There may be several courses on your PACE form falling in your 'electives' area with the dummy numbers that you think should be applied to more specific areas such as Humanities. In this case, it is your responsibility as the student to submit a course description to the appropriate office for evaluation.

  • If you are seeking evaluation of a lower level course that will fulfill a core requirement, submit the course description to the Office of Academic Assistance located in 724 General Classroom Building. The one exception is if you are seeking evaluation of any computer science course. In this case, please submit the course description to the Department of Computer Science.
  • If you are seeking evaluation of an upper level course that will fulfill a major or minor requirement, submit the course description to the appropriate department.

When you turn in a course description to be evaluated, please indicate your name, student number, phone number where you can be reached, and the title of the course you are seeking credit for.

Keep in mind that your course description must be similar to the GSU course description for credit to be awarded. If your academic advisor does not think that enough description is given in the course description, you may be referred to the department for further evaluation.
