How many hours do I need to graduate?
Most degree programs require 120 total semester hours. There are several degree programs that require more than 120 total semester hours, so please check the Undergraduate Catalog to find out if it is your program.
You must complete all of your degree requirements including your core, courses appropriate to the major, major courses, minor if required or selected, and residency. After completing all of these requirements, if you still do not have 120 total hours, you will need elective credit. Electives are any course that you select to increase your total hours. Please note that the College of Arts & Sciences does not count 1000 or 2000 level HPRD, KH, or MS courses toward your total hours.
Residency Requirement:
Georgia State University requires every student who receives a degree to meet residency. You must have at least 39 semester hours of 3000 or 4000 level credit that is taken at GSU. Any course that is 3000 or 4000 level taken at GSU will count towards residency no matter if it falls in your major, minor, or electives area.
