What education courses can I take as an undergraduate? :
The following Education courses are available to undergraduate students interested in applying to an initial certification program at the Master’s Level. As these are 3000 and 4000 level courses they should be taken in your Junior and/or Senior year of undergraduate work.
Availible for all interested in Eucation:
* EXC 4020 Characteristics and Instructional Strategies for Students with Disabilities
And one of the following:
* IT 3210 Teaching, Learning and Technology Integration
* EDCI 3210 Introduction to teaching in Secondary Schools
If a part of the Social Sciences Pre – Education Track:
* EDSS 3400 Topics in Middle Grades Social Science/History
* EDLA 3200 Topics in Middle Grades Language Arts
Am I certified to teach after completing this track? :
No, the pre-professional education tracks will only give a strong content background before applying to initial certification Master’s Level programs. You may apply for the TEEMS program at Georgia State or to another University’s program at the end of your Senior year.
Will I be guaranteed admission to the Georgia State TEEMS program after completing a Pre-Professional Education track? :
No, you must follow the application process that has been put in place. You can view the application process through the College of Education MSIT website: http://msit.gsu.edu/.
What is a provisional teaching certificate and how can I earn one? :
A provisional certificate allows you to teach in the classroom with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution while enrolled in education course work to pursue your initial certification.
Provisional certification programs require a minimum 2.50 GPA, a passing score on the GACE Basic Skills Test, a passing score on the GACE Content Area Assessment, and a Criminal Background check. Different programs may have more specific requirements, to learn about these requirements visit:
