September 14-15, 2007
High School Honor Chorus
Randall Hooper, director
Georgia State University’s High School Honor Chorus participants will spend two days rehearsing challenging repertoire with the Georgia State University Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Randall Hooper, attending sectionals with Georgia State University performance faculty and socializing with their musical peers from around the state.  High School Choral Directors who bring students to the event and participate in the Conductor’s Roundtable are eligible to receive one PLU credit.  The event concludes with a performance at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007 in Georgia State’s Rialto Center fro the Arts.  Parents, family and friends are invited to attend this free public concert.
Fee:  $50 per student

Addressing Cultural Diversity in our Classrooms:  What we teach or Who we teach?

The Music Education Leadership Institute provides professional recognition and development for teacher-leaders in music.

Masterclass Clinician: Keith Underwood, flute
Woodwind Day 2007 will feature a masterclass with flutist and renowned breathing expert, Keith Underwood. This event is designed for teachers and their students.  The day culminates in a concert with the participants and Mr. Underwood at 3:00 p.m. in Georgia State University’s Rialto Center for the Arts.

BrassFest

Special Guest: Allen Vizzutti, trumpet
BrassFest will feature the Georgia State University Brass Ensemble and special guest Allen Vizzutti, trumpet.  This event is designed for teachers and their students and includes a masterclass with Mr. Vizzutti.  The day culminates is a concert with the participants and Mr. Vizzutti at 4:00 p.m. in Georgia State University’s Rialto Center for the Arts.
Fee:  $25 per participant

Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA)
In-Service Conference
Georgia State University School of Music’s office of Community Music Programs is the administrator for PLU credits offered at this state-wide conference.

High School Honor Bands

Dedicated high school musicians from throughout the region are invited to participate in two days of wonderful music making as part of Georgia State University’s 2008 High School Honor Bands.  This year students will have the opportunity to participate in either the Honor Symphonic Band or the Honor Jazz Band, and will spend two days rehearsing challenging repertoire with Director of Wind Studies and Ensembles, Robert Ambrose or Coordinator of Jazz Studies, Gordon Vernick.  Each participant will also attending sectionals with Georgia State performance faculty, and socialize with their musical peers from around the state. Participants will conclude the event with a performance at 7:00 p.m. in Georgia State's Rialto Center for the Arts. Parents, family and friends are invited to attend this free public concert.
